Aigui/Bonnen im Loft zu Köln

Alexei Aigui wurde am 11. Juli
1971 in Moskau geboren. Zwischen 1987 und 1991 spielte er in Alternative
Rock Gruppen wie DO MAJOR. 1991 machte er seinen Abschluß an der Ippollitov-Ivanov
Musik-Akademie in Moskau im Hauptfach Violine.
1994 gründete er gemeinsam mit Julia Bederova das ENSEMBLE 4'33'', das er
leitet, und in dem er Geige spielt. ENSEMBLE 4'33'' war das erste Ensemble
in Rußland, das Werke von John Cage, La Monte Young, Toru Takemitsu, Morton
Feldman und anderen westlichen Komponisten aufführte. Russische Komponisten
wie Vladimir Martynov, Anton Batagov und Pavel Karmanov haben eigens Stücke
für das Ensemble geschrieben.
Seit 1994 haben Alexei Aigui und das ENSEMBLE 4'33'' an vielen internationalen
Festivals teilgenommen: Moskauer »Alternativa«, »Berlin - Moskau«, »Internationales
Jazz Festival Archangelsk«, »Tampere Jazz Happening«, »Moskauer Herbst«, »The
New Baltic Dance Festival«, »Fete de La Music«, etc.
Ballett- und Filmmusik bilden einen Schwerpunkt in Alexei Aigui's kompositorischer
Arbeit. Seine Musik für den Film »The Country of the Deaf« wurde mit dem »Russischen
National Preis der Filmkritiker« für die beste Filmmusik 1998 ausgezeichnet
und für den russischen »Nika« nominiert.

(speciality: violin), Moscow, in 1991.
In 1994 he created with Julia Bederova the ENSEMBLE 4'33", which he
directs and which he plays violin. The ENSEMBLE 4'33" was the first
ensemble in Russia to perform a certain number of pieces by John Cage, La
Monte Young, Toru Takemitsu, Morton Feldman and other contemporary western
composers. The russian composers Vladimir Martynov, Anton Batagov and Pavel
Karmanov have been writing pieces specially for the ensemble.
